Three services.
Each given full attention.
Water-resistance resealing, quartz and hybrid service, and automatic movement restoration — nothing else on the menu.
Back to HomepageHow work at the bench is structured
Every service at Cogvane follows the same sequence: a no-charge assessment before anything is agreed, a discussion of findings and scope, work carried out once approved, and a written summary on return. The steps don't change based on service type or the watch's value.
The three services reflect where watch owners in Phuket most often need assistance. Coastal conditions make water-resistance work relevant across a wide range of watches. Quartz and solar movements are the most common calibre type by far. And automatic movements, when they need work, need it done properly — which means a full process, not a summary service.
Water-Resistance Check & Reseal
Gasket replacement, crown and case-back inspection, and a water-resistance observation suited to coastal living. Includes external cleaning and advice on day-to-day care for watches regularly exposed to humidity and sea air.
What's included
- Full gasket set replaced (crown tube, case-back, pushers as applicable)
- Crown thread and winding mechanism inspection
- Case-back seal and thread condition checked
- External case and crystal cleaned
- Written care summary with coastal-specific notes
Process
Watch received and logged; existing condition noted
Crown, pushers, and case-back assessed for thread and seal condition
Gaskets replaced with appropriate spec materials
External clean and written summary prepared for collection
Quartz & Hybrid Service
Full service for quartz and solar movements, covering cell or capacitor checks, contact cleaning, and timing observation. Includes case and bracelet cleaning and a clear summary of the watch's condition once complete.
What's included
- Battery or solar capacitor assessment and replacement if needed
- Contact and circuit point cleaning
- Timing observation and accuracy assessment
- Case and bracelet ultrasonic and manual clean
- Condition summary with findings explained
Process
Initial function check and case condition assessment
Movement opened; cell or capacitor checked, contacts cleaned
Timing observed over multiple sessions for accuracy assessment
Case cleaned; written condition summary completed
Automatic Movement Restoration
Detailed restoration of self-winding movements, covering teardown, rotor and reverser inspection, regulation, and an extended accuracy check. Each project includes a documented record of components reviewed and any parts refreshed.
What's included
- Full movement teardown and component separation
- Ultrasonic cleaning of disassembled parts
- Rotor and reverser inspection and service
- Calibre-appropriate lubrication and reassembly
- Regulation and extended multi-position accuracy check
- Documented record of components reviewed and parts refreshed
Process
Assessment: timing, power reserve, visual inspection
Full teardown; parts ultrasonically cleaned and inspected individually
Reassembly with calibre-matched lubricants; worn parts replaced where needed
Extended accuracy check across multiple positions over several days
Component record compiled; watch prepared for collection

Protocols shared across all services
Consent before proceeding
No service begins without the owner's agreement on scope and cost following assessment.
Appropriate materials used
Gaskets, lubricants, and replacement parts are selected for the specific calibre and movement type — not substituted with generic alternatives.
Secure storage during service
Each watch is logged on receipt, stored in a designated secure space, and kept separate from other work in progress.
Communication during longer jobs
Any unexpected finding during the work is communicated before the work continues. No surprises on collection.
Written record on every return
A plain-language summary accompanies every completed service. You keep it as a record of what was done and when.
Mail-in accepted
Watches can be sent in by post for any of the three services. Contact us first to discuss packaging and scope before shipping.
Tell us about your watch
A brief message or phone call is enough to get started. We'll take a look and let you know which service applies.
