Fewer services.
Done properly.
Three focused services means three things done well — not a wide menu with uneven results.
Back to HomepageWhat you get when you bring a watch to Cogvane
These aren't claims we've written for a website. They're the operating principles that shape every job at the bench.
A written record every time
Every completed service includes documentation you can keep. What was inspected, what was replaced, what the timing showed — in plain language.
Price agreed before work begins
The cost is discussed and agreed at assessment. Nothing additional is added without a conversation. The price on the invoice matches what was quoted.
Built for coastal conditions
Phuket's salt air and humidity are factored into how we assess gaskets, movements, and case conditions. Not a generic service — one that accounts for where you live.
Three services, each done thoroughly
We don't do everything. Water-resistance work, quartz service, and automatic movement restoration — each one with a full process behind it, not a surface clean and sign-off.
Assessment at no charge
Bring the watch in and we'll look at it before discussing any service. There's no commitment until you've heard what we found and what's involved.
Original components respected
Parts are replaced when they need replacing — not as a standard practice. The goal is a watch that runs correctly, not one that's been overhauled beyond what the condition required.
Years spent on movements, not just polishing cases
The work at Cogvane is done by technicians who have spent years on the specific jobs they handle. Automatic movement restoration isn't learned from a manual — it comes from a long accumulation of different calibres, different faults, and different results. The team's combined experience covers Swiss-oriented mechanisms, Japanese movements, and the range of quartz and solar technologies that have defined the last few decades.
Experience also means knowing when a watch is outside the scope of what can be done well on site. If a calibre requires manufacturer-specific tooling or a part that can't be sourced at the right standard, we say so — that's part of the job too.
What experience looks like in practice
- 12+ years combined experience in movement service
- Familiarity with Swiss, Japanese, and hybrid calibres
- Honest scope assessment — we tell you when something is out of range
- Each technician works on their specialist service type
Communication standards
- Findings explained at assessment, not assumed
- Progress updates on longer projects without prompting
- Contact by phone or message during any active service
- Written summary returned with every completed watch
The owner stays informed throughout
Watch servicing involves decisions — whether to replace a part, how long an accuracy check needs to run, whether an unexpected finding changes the scope of work. These decisions affect the owner, so they should involve the owner.
At Cogvane, nothing proceeds without agreement. Assessment findings are discussed in plain terms. If something changes during the work, we make contact before continuing. And when the watch is collected, the written record means you leave knowing exactly what happened.
Pricing that reflects the work, not the watch's brand
Service pricing at Cogvane is set by service type, not by the name on the dial. A water-resistance reseal costs ฿4,500 whether the watch is a dive instrument or a dress piece. A quartz service is ฿12,500. Automatic movement restoration is ฿30,000. These prices cover what the service involves — not a premium for the brand sitting in front of you on the bench.
The prices are posted because we think owners should know what to expect before they come in. There are no assessment fees, no charge for an initial look, and no additional costs without discussion.

Cogvane vs. the typical approach
These are common differences between a bench focused on doing less with more care and a general repair shop managing volume.

Things we do that aren't common
Coastal reseal protocol
Our reseal work specifically accounts for the humidity and salt air conditions of Phuket. This means gasket selection and the advice given afterwards is calibrated to the environment you're actually wearing the watch in — not a mainland Thailand standard.
Documented component review (automatic service)
Automatic movement restoration at Cogvane includes a written record of each component group reviewed and any parts that were refreshed. Not every shop produces this. We think it's basic to the job.
Mail-in service for non-Phuket owners
We accept watches by post and handle the full service remotely. You get assessment findings communicated directly, and the same written record on return as a walk-in client would receive.
Brand-neutral pricing
The service price reflects the work involved, not the prestige of the name on the dial. An automatic movement restoration costs the same for a modest piece as for a recognised Swiss make — the job is the same.
